My name is Demi Heitzman. I use cans of spray paint to form works of art. I have always enjoyed seeing someone take a medium that is a little out of the ordinary and be able to create such detail and beauty that no one would ever guess what medium was used to create each work of art. I also enjoy using bright vibrant colors that really stand out and catch your attention. I love incorporating silhouettes. This enables anyone to picture themselves or somebody else in each situation. Sometimes I continue the painting onto the matting and the frame to create depth and the illusion that you can step right into the painting. Every time I paint I try to think of something that can impact everyone in a different way.

This series of paintings was inspired by the story of David. A tale of humble beginnings, remarkable courage, that lead to becoming King. My father reminded me so much of King David. Fearless, willing to do what everyone believed was impossible. They both had faith that motivated them in every circumstance. My father passed away unexpectedly right after I finished this centerpiece for ArtPrize. He showed me what true love and dedication looks like. Inspiring me as he chased his dreams, while encouraging me to chase mine along the way. My father was “The Courageous One” in my life. I would love to dedicate this series to him and share his story.

A home built on a solid foundation
will stand firm. The stronger the foundation, the more stable is the structure. Throughout my life I have faced many storms. One of the biggest challenges I have faced is a lifelong battle with epilepsy. For it is through faith, family, music and art that I have strength in every circumstance. They keep me steady no matter what I face in life. When the ultimate storms of life come, the house and all of those inside will stand strong because they have built their lives upon a firm foundation.
